Common Prototypes Material for ABS
By NICE Rapid | Jan 16 , 2020

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a thermoplastic polymer material with high strength, good toughness and easy to be processed.

Because of its high strength, corrosion resistance, and high temperature resistance, it is often used to make plastic enclosure for instruments. ABS plate usually has two kinds of light yellow and black, has a certain toughness, density is about 1.04 ~ 1.06g / cm3.

It has good sour, alkali and salt corrosion resistance, and it can withstand the dissolution of organic solvents to a certain extent. ABS resin can perform normally under the environment of -25 ℃ ~ 60 ℃, and has good mold ability. The surface of the processed product is smooth, easy to be dyed and electroplated.

Therefore, it can be used in daily necessities such as home appliance housings and toys. Common Lego bricks are made from ABS plastic.

The features of ABS sheet:

1)  High working pressure: The pressure is 1.0Mpa at 20 ℃.

2)  Good impact resistance: only ductile deformation when subjected to a sudden attack.

3)  The chemical properties of this product are stable, non-toxic and tasteless, which fully meet the health and safety requirements of the pharmaceutical and food industries.

4) Wide operating temperature range: The operating temperature range is -20 ℃ ~ + 70 ℃.

5)  Long service life: This product can be used in doors for 50 years. If it is buried in the ground or water, it will last longer without obvious corrosion.

6)  Light weight, save investment: ABS weights 1/7 of steel, thus reducing the structural weight, reducing the labor intensity of workers, and reducing the consumption of raw materials, which can greatly save engineering investment.

ABS prototypes are easy to be bonded, sanded, and suitable for other post-processing such as engraving, painted, plated.
