Prototypes With Different Properties Require Different Material Characteristics
By Nice Rapid | Mar 11 , 2020

When making prototypes, it is very important to choose a suitable material, because different materials have different characteristics. For example, you need to make a high temperature resistant prototype, ABS material is not very suitable, because its high temperature resistance is not strong, at this time It is necessary to choose a PPS that can withstand more than 200 degrees of high temperature.

Today let’s summary different materials corresponding to different characteristics.

Common Prototypes:  we will choose ABS when customers do not have special requirements. ABS is easy to be made and cost is low, the surface is smooth after polished, then it will have a good appearance after post-treatment.

When customers need the prototypes have good abrasive resistance, we will choose POM or PA because of good bending strength, fatigue resistance, and abrasion resistance. It is suitable for gear parts. But the two material cannot be glued, so the parts need to be made integrally. If you need a prototype with high tenacity, you can choose PA or PP, the two materials have strong toughness and not easy to get broken. However, the two material cannot be glued as well.

For example, if you need a prototype with good high temperature resistance, you can choose black PC and PA. But the three materials cannot be glued as well expecting black PC. At last, if you need transparent prototypes, you can choose PMMA, transparent ABS and PC. The products that made from above materials are very transparent after polished.
