Some Common Surface Finish on Rapid Prototyping

Anodization: the aluminum surface oxidation redaction, forming a layer of membrane, it is very difficult to scratch. And products can be anodized with different colors. On the one hand, the aluminum product has a nice appearance; on the other hand, it can protect surface.


Sandblasting: first of all, we need to choose the suitable grains of sand for the finished prototypes, then the surface will be painted by operator; it not only can cover the scratches, but also can improve the roughness of surface.


Laser engraving: engraving the logo or letters on the rough surface when customer required. The metal and plastic products all can be engraved.


Chrome plating: the products will be coated with a layer of chrome silver color, in order to have the products details with more eye-catching. However, before chrome plating, the surface of products must be very smooth and no impurity traces.


Painting:  the surface of prototypes will be sprayed a layer of oil with the color according to pantone code. Usually there are two kinds of brightness, one is gloss, the other is matt. When customer need to do logo on surface, we can paint it.


Silkscreen: it is similar to painting treatment; some logos can be made.  The only difference is we can make two or more colors in same surface by silkscreen.


UV oil: usually for plastic prototypes which need gloss surface, then the surface will be sprayed with a layer of transparent oil, drying it by the ultraviolet rays dry. It can make products brighter and not easy to be scratched, like a layer of protective layer.
