What’s The Post-processing of Aluminum Alloy Prototypes?
By Nice Rapid | Apr 24 , 2020

In Rapid Prototyping, after CNC processing of aluminum alloy prototype samples, a series of surface treatments are required to obtain bright and beautiful prototype models. So what are the surface treatment effects of aluminum alloy prototypes?

1. Sand blasting: The main function is to clean the surface. The front blasting can increase the surface roughness, which is good for improving the adhesion. Sand blasting is divided into coarse sand and fine sand. The commonly used are 120 mesh and 100 mesh.

2. Conductive oxidation: Aluminum parts have a certain degree of anti-corrosion and electrical conductivity after conductive oxidation. More samples of electronic equipment prototypes are used. Aluminum conductive oxidation can prevent electromagnetic signal interference.

3. Anodizing: Anodizing is a method that uses the principle of electrolysis to form an oxide film on the surface of the prototype sample to increase the corrosion resistance and make the appearance beautiful.

4. Powder coating: The advantages of this technology are reflected in advanced technology, energy saving, high efficiency, safety and reliability, beautiful color and so on. The working principle is that the plastic powder is charged by a high-voltage electrostatic device. Under the effect of an electric field, the coating is sprayed on the surface of the workpiece, and the powder is uniformly adsorbed on the surface of the workpiece to form a powdery coating.

5. Electroplating: Use the workpiece as the cathode and the material to form the plating layer as the anode. Put both in the bath with the plating solution, and then apply DC or AC and DC to ionize the material forming the plating layer and remove The method of running to the surface of the workpiece and firmly attaching it to form different thickness plating.

Post-treatment of aluminum alloy hand plate: After the CNC machining process of aluminum hand plate is completed, the post-processing is mostly used for anodizing (mostly natural color oxidation), plastic spraying (rich color, good quality and cheap, most used), electrophoresis Mainly shiny K gold, K silver, champagne), heat transfer (mainly wood grain transfer, showing wood texture, good-looking).

The surface treatment of aluminum alloy prototypes is to enhance the surface hardness and abrasion resistance of aluminum alloy, expand its application range, and extend the service life. Surface treatment has become an indispensable part of aluminum alloy use. Anodizing is the current aluminum alloy Prototype applications are the most common.
